What is Lumecca IPL treatment?

How does IPL work?
How do I care for my skin after my treatment?
It is essential to take good care of your skin after your Lumecca IPL treatment. You will need to wear a broad spectrum SPF every day, even if it's cloudy outside. Makeup can be worn. We would advise avoiding heavy exercise for 3-4 days, as well as swimming, saunas & steam rooms.
What areas of the body can IPL treatment be used on?
IPL treatments can be performed on most areas of the face & body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, hands & legs.
Things to avoid before IPL treatment:
There are certain things you will need to avoid before your IPL treatment. You should avoid sun exposure and tanning beds, as well as any other type of laser treatments or skin treatments at least 2-3 weeks before & after your treatment. It's also important to avoid taking blood thinners such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as these can increase the risk of bruising. Avoid using facial creams that contain retinoids, glycolic acid, or alpha hydroxy acids before your IPL treatment.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of IPL skin rejuvenation treatments will vary from client to client. On average when treating pigmentation 3-4 sessions are required. When treating vascular lesions such as thread veins or larger broken capillaries, this may take between 4-5 sessions for complete clearance.

Is Lumecca painful?
Lumecca is not painful - with each trigger of the Intense Pulse Light you will feel a small warm flick on the skin. The entire face takes 10-20 minutes to treat (2 passes).
Our specialists will ensure the skin is cleansed thoroughly before the treatment begins. A clear gel is applied to the area being treated, this is to protect the skin. The Lumecca IPL hand piece is then placed on the skin, your technician will press a trigger button which will activate the Intense Pulsed Light, this light is extremely powerful and will travel down into the skin. The light wavelengths have been tailored to pick up any brown & red pigments in the skin. These pigments will begin to break up as the light hits them. The entire area is treated. There is no downtime with the treatment & makeup can be applied immediately after your treatment if desired.
