Our guide to non-invasive skin tightening treatments
If you feel like your age is pulling your confidence down with the emergence of fine lines, wrinkles, loose skin, and unwanted pockets of fat but don’t want to do surgery, a non-invasive aesthetic procedure is tailor-made to rejuvenate the skin without having to go under the knife for you to bring back your youthful glow.
In that regard, this non-surgical treatment doesn’t need the help of a scalpel to tighten laxly, sagging skin on the face and body with the use of laser energy, radio-frequency energy, ultrasound energy, or a combination to deliver controlled heat and damage to skin tissues that trigger skin tightening, healing, and rejuvenation.
What is Non-Invasive Skin Tightening?
As mentioned above, these are skin tightening procedures that use non-surgical devices to stimulate collagen production of the skin, which is used to jump-start shrink tissues that have lost their elasticity over time.
Such procedure can be applied on the face, neck, abdomen, buttocks, arms, and thighs so the skin on these areas can tighten from the inside out and the outside in, allowing the skin to retrace its youthful steps and feel bouncy, elastic, firm, and fresh. In that regard, tiny punctures in the skin are applied to access the deeper layers of the skin, causing the collagen to contract while the skin underneath emulsifies. In retrospect, results are typically noticeable within six weeks to three months.
Non-Invasive Skin Tightening Can Be Applied To:
Cellulite on the abdomen, buttocks, and legs
Can I Undergo Non-Invasive Skin Tightening?
People are free to undergo non-surgical and non-invasive skin tightening treatments only if they are in healthy conditions, meaning that they have no skin sensitivity or other medical concerns that may be triggered or worsened during the procedure. Those who have skin asthma, have blood-clotting problems, infection in the treatment area, or pregnant women are strictly not allowed to push through with the procedure.
What to Expect After the Procedure
The procedure itself is not necessarily painful as most machines use topical anesthesia or other means of pain management to ease the overall experience of patients, however, it’s best to consult your physician about any concerns regarding the procedure. On the other hand, post-treatment may consist of mild swelling, bruising, and redness that can last between one to two weeks.
Some uncommon side effects include skin burns, infection, numbness, muscle weakness, inflammatory or allergic reactions, and contour changes. When any of these symptoms persist, it’s best to immediately address the problem with your physician. The redness, however, typically calms down within a few hours.
This isn’t the kind of procedure that will put a halt to your routine though as anyone can go back to business, as usual, the next day, some even preferring to get back to the grind after a few hours. In that regard, expectations must be managed as stimulating the natural production of collagen will take time, and skin-tightening procedures such as these will generally take effect at least three to six months.
